Tai Chi & Qigong

The martial art to help you fight stress head on.

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that is modernly used for stress-relief and relaxation. With the several different styles of Tai Chi, you’ll find the practice can vary throughout it’s hundreds of movements and poses. Focusing on constant slow movements, breathing, and meditation, Tai Chi effectively reduces stress, blood pressure, and helps many sleep better.

Benefits of Practicing Tai Chi

  • Decrease stress

  • Improve mood

  • Relieve joint pain

  • Improve balance and core strength

  • Increase energy

  • Reduce blood pressure

  • Improve sleep

Why take a Tai Chi class?

Taking an in-person Tai Chi class has more benefits than you might think. Having an instructor correct your movements will help you get the most out of practicing. If you have an injury, your instructor can help you modify your movements to still achieve proper flow, but avoid overusing your injured area.

As you continue your Tai Chi journey, you’ll recognize new benefits along the way. It takes time to learn movements and improve form, so don’t expect huge benefits in the short-term. As you grow as a martial artist, you will notice incredible benefits in the long-term.

What is Qigong?

“Qi” means “subtle breath” and “gong” means “a skill obtained after dedicated practice.” The slow movements of Qigong warm the tendons, muscles, and organs promoting circulation and rejuvenation. While it’s benefits are similar to Tai Chi, Qigong movements are different. Tai Chi focuses on a series of movements, while Qigong focuses on one movement at a time to promote wellness.
