What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo directly translated into English means “the art of kicking and punching.” Taekwondo was developed in Korea using martial art influences from Japan and China. In class, students will train through the values of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Skills learned in Taekwondo involve kicks, hand strikes, joint locks, throws, takedowns, free-sparring, self-defense, and forms. Forms are a large part of Taekwondo training. Within a form, you’ll learn a prearranged pattern developing agility, dexterity, coordination, flexibility, and memory.
